The CAAAWH and the CWHL are governed by a board of directors. Six members of the board of directors come from the community at large and put in place to help steer the CWHL through financial and business matters. Each team then can elect a player representative and a team representative to represent their interests on the board.

The Board of Directors meet once every two months with an Annual General Meeting which occurs at the end of every season.
